Sioux City Night Connects Law Students with Community Members, Legal Partners and Career Opportunities

Held at The Warrior Hotel Rooftop, this year’s gathering brought together students from the USD Knudson School of Law, Morningside University and Briar Cliff University.

Through this annual event, students can meet with peers and members of Sioux City’s legal community such as judges, attorneys, in-house counsels and public interest attorneys, and have a chance to start conversations and make professional connections that can lead to internships or post-graduate opportunities.

One student who found their path at Sioux City Night is Jacob Frier. During his first year as a law student, Frier met Julia Adams of the Sioux City-based Klass Law Firm, and their conversations at Sioux City Night led Frier to take an internship with the firm that summer.

“The Klass Law Firm would never have been on my radar if it wasn’t for attending the Sioux City Night social,” said Frier. “There is lots of great and fulfilling work to be done in Sioux City.”

After one successful term as an intern with Klass, Frier was invited back for a second internship the following year. Now, with his sights set on finishing his degree, Frier has received an offer from Kass to join their firm once he graduates in December and passes the bar.

For students like Frier, Sioux City Night presents a fun tradition and an important networking opportunity within the vibrant Sioux City community, only 40 minutes from USD.

“The law school has done a great job in connecting students with practitioners,” Frier said. “It really allows us as students to begin building our networks far before graduation.”
